Blue Chip Chat: Lucas Nix
Catching up with the area's top high school football players
Monday, August 20, 2007

School: Thomas Jefferson

Position: OL/DL

Height: 6-6

Weight: 285

The skinny: A dominating force on both lines, Nix led Thomas Jefferson to the WPIAL Class AAA title last year, steamrolling Blackhawk's front in the title game for a 34-15 win at Heinz Field.

College talk: Had more than 50 scholarship offers from some of college football's heavy hitters before selecting Pitt in June.

Favorite food: Crab legs, definitely.

Your brother, Nate, is a Pitt linebacker -- who wins a fight between you two? I hate to say it, but he probably would win. Only because he is a little quicker and he has heavy hands.

Person, living or dead, you would most like to meet and why? Pat Tillman. That is just someone I'd like to talk to.

Why does your coach, Bill Cherpak, insist on wearing shorts for games, even if it is freezing cold? Because he shows no emotion and has no feeling (laughs). No, I don't know, I think it shows that he goes to battle with us and shows us to put stuff like being cold aside.

What did you spend the summer doing? Pretty much just hanging out and working out. Oh, I did go to Cedar Point, though.

People might be surprised to know that ... I can do a split.
