Montour High School's Christian Wilson, one of the most heavily recruited football players in the WPIAL, made a verbal commitment to the University of Michigan this afternoon.
Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior, had 50 scholarship offers and had narrowed his choices to Michigan and Rutgers. Clemson, Virginia Tech and North Carolina were the other three schools on his final list.
"Michigan has been my favorite for a while," Wilson said. "They were the first to offer me a scholarship [after last season]."
Wilson wanted to get the decision out of the way before the start of football season. Montour's first game is Aug. 31.
"I just want to totally focus on the season and my grades," Wilson said. "I don't want to have to worry about receiving messages or getting phone calls [from college coaches] when the season started."
