No work will take place in the Parkway East construction zone between the Edgewood-Swissvale and Churchill interchanges this weekend or on most other major highways in the region because of heavy travel for the Labor Day holiday.
Where possible, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has suspended work and lifted restrictions out of consideration for motorists.
In addition, PennDOT has reopened all four lanes of Route 22 over a 4.5-mile construction zone between what's known as the Cozy Inn Cutoff east of Murrysville and the Route 66 interchange in Delmont. The highway has been widened and upgraded over the past three years at a cost of $43.8 million.
