Penguins sign forward to one-year contract

Adding brawn with a bit of a scoring touch, the Penguins tonight signed forward Arron Asham to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

Asham, 32, spent the past two seasons with Philadelphia, The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder had 10 goals, 24 points and 126 penalty minutes in 72 games with the Flyers last season. He had four goals, seven points in the playoffs as Philadelphia reached the Stanley Cup final.

He previously played for Montreal, the New York Islanders and New Jersey and has 82 goals, 179 points and 818 penalty minutes in 648 NHL games. He also has plenty of playoff experience -- 13 points in 52 games.
