One woman was killed and another seriously injured in a collision that sent two vehicles crashing into a house in Westmoreland County Saturday night.
State police said a female passenger in one of the cars, whose identity was not released, was flown to Excela Health Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant, where she was pronounced dead. County Deputy Coroner Timothy O'Donnell said the woman died of blunt force trauma.
The female driver of that car, who was also not identified, suffered severe injuries and taken to UPMC Presbyterian. Her condition was not known.
State police said the driver was traveling east on Route 130 in Cook when she failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a car at the intersection of Route 711 shortly after 6 p.m. The second vehicle, driven by Matthew D. Carter, 35, of Verona, was heading north on Route 711.
Police said the vehicles spun around and crashed into a nearby home, then a fence and wooden porch.
Mr. Carter and three children -- ages 3, 9 and 11 -- in his car were not injured, police said.
