The Penn Hills school board has canceled its Sept. 13 voting meeting.
The board, instead, will hold a voting meeting in conjunction with its workshop meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Linton Middle School cafeteria.
The 17th annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival will place Friday through Monday at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, southeast of Greensburg.
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Monday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The festival will go on regardless of the weather.
There will be about 220 exhibit booths, featuring artists and artisans working with wood, metal, fiber, dried flowers and paint. Even a chainsaw craftsman will be on hand.
There also will be face painting, balloon animals, wagon rides and a petting zoo. Entrees, snacks and desserts will be available.
Booths will be in five buildings at the fairgrounds, and there will be outdoor displays.
The Kanawha Artillery, Civil War re-enactors, will set up an encampment. Two string bands - Echoes of the Blue and Gray and Beaver Creek Colonial String Band - will perform as will the Westland Choir, an all-girls' flute choir, and the Seton Hill University pipe band.
The Wild World of Animals Show will take place twice each on Saturday and Sunday.
The cost is $5.50 for adults (age 13 and older), $5 for seniors (65-plus), $1 for children 6-12, and no charge for younger than 6.

Wilkinsburg has been awarded a $141,750 grant from the state to install more than 60 new windows in the municipal building.
The grant was announced Monday by state Rep. Joseph Preston, D-East Liberty.
"The new windows will enhance the appearance of our historically rich municipal building, save the borough money in energy costs and further demonstrate our commitment to sustainability," said borough manager Marla Marcinko.
Rep. Preston said the grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority.
The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra is offering these fall term courses through its Academy of Music:
Intermezzo, for beginning violin students who study privately, Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept . 20 to Nov . 22. Tuition is $75 for 10 sessions.
String Ensemble, for elementary/middle school students who study privately and wish to perform in a group setting, Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Sept . 8 to Nov . 17. Tuition is $75 for 11 sessions.
Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra, for mostly high school and college students, Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. Sept. 8 to Dec. 1 at Seton Hill University's Performing Arts Center, Greensburg. Tuition is $185. An audition was held yesterday; another will be on Sunday.
Community String Orchestra, Tuesdays from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Sept. 14 to Nov. 16 at the Academy of Music. Tuition is $60 for 10 sessions.
Private lessons by the Academy of Music for string players, vocalists and flutists of all ages. Students pay at the beginning of each month. The rates: 30 minutes, $21.50; 45 minutes, $32.25; 60 minutes, $43.

The North Huntingdon Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual free End of Summer Celebration from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Oak Hollow Park.
There will be crafters, games, live music, Zumba dancing demonstrations, children's activities and inflatables.
Children's activities will include The Bird Guy at 5, trackless train rides at 5:30 and a Stage Right play at 6 on Friday; and Debo the Clown at 5, trackless train rides at 5:30, Al-Amazing Magic at 6 and Amphibians Alive at 7 on Saturday.
Live music performances on Friday will be New Orleans Swing Band at 5; Big Tony & Company, 6:15; and The Mystic Knights, 7:15. Saturday's schedule will feature Mark Cyler at 4, On the Ridge at 5:30 and No Bad JuJu at 7:45.
The movie "Band Slam" will be shown at 9:30 Friday. The celebration will end Saturday with Zambelli fireworks starting at about 9:45.

"Restrepo," an award-winning documentary, will open in the Pittsburgh area Sept. 10 at the Cinemagic Manor Theatre, 1729 Murray Ave., Squirrel Hill.

Journalists Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger accompanied soldiers of the Second Platoon, Battle Company, and chronicled their experiences while fighting in the dangerous Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistan.
Medicare 101, a free advisory session, will be offered at three Westmoreland County venues.
It is designed to help people understand when to sign up for benefits, supplemental plans, costs, Part D of the plan and what to do if one is still employed. The sessions have been scheduled by APPRISE, a state health insurance assistance program.

The East Boros Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame will honor its 33rd class of inductees Oct. 14 at Edgewood Country Club, Churchill Road, Wilkins.
Ten athletic figures will be honored: Ellis Cannon, Greg Caprara, Tim Cortazzo, Jerome Flowers, Mary Beth Ford, Thomas Mitrakos, Mark Ponko, John Ratesic, Patrick Ratesic and Paul Seneca.
A cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30. Tickets are $35 apiece, $350 for a table of 10, and will not be sold at the door.
The East Boros Chapter encompasses nine school districts: East Allegheny, Franklin Regional, Gateway, Penn Hills, Penn-Trafford, Plum, Riverview, Wilkinsburg and Woodland Hills.
