The Planning Commission has set standards for keeping chickens in the city.
Those wishing to have chickens on their property must apply for a special exception with the city.
The legislation, approved last week, would allow three chickens starting with a minimum of 2,000 square feet of land on which the owners of the chickens must live. The commission earlier this summer approved the keeping of two beehives on the same lot size.
