Wednesday, September 08, 2010

Pittsburgh's No. 2 most wanted graffiti artist was sentenced to one to three years in prison on Tuesday after causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Ian Debeer, 23, originally from Buffalo, N.Y., pleaded guilty in June to 73 counts of criminal mischief and one count of possessing an instrument of crime.

In addition to his prison term, Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning ordered Mr. Debeer to serve five years of probation and pay about $47,000 in restitution.

He used the graffiti name "HERT," which started to appear in Pittsburgh in April 2007.

Mr. Debeer was previously arrested in Buffalo using the same tag.

During a search of his home, officers found 300 photographs of graffiti, about 500 cans of spray paint, painting accessories, breathing respirators and a sketchbook with "HERT" graffiti.
