Energy Center of Pop: Fall concerts
Fall Arts preview
Thursday, September 09, 2010

Last year at this time we had two shows booked into the Civic Arena for the fall: Taylor Swift and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

What a difference a new arena makes. The Consol Energy Center, fresh off sold-out Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga shows, goes into the fall with some big hitters, including Rush, the Eagles, Justin Bieber and a Roger Waters "Wall" spectacular that likely wouldn't have played the dome. For once, we have everything the Cleveland and Columbus arenas have -- and more.

Among the other highlights this fall:

• Steve Vai, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson and more "Experience Hendrix" at the Benedum.

• The Marley family celebrates the legacy of Bob Marley at the Benedum.

• New Pornographers and 3OH!3 bring fresh sounds to Ches-Arena.

• The National and Pat Metheny warm up the intimate Carnegie Library Music Hall.

• MCG Jazz welcomes back Larry Carlton and Nancy Wilson.

• Emmylou Harris brings her golden pipes to the Byham.

• The former Pretenders frontwoman brings her new project, Chrissie Hynde, JP And The Fairground Boys, to the New Hazlett Theatre.

• The Walkmen and Teenage Fanclub invade Mr. Smalls.

• And John Mellencamp brings the heartland to the fancy Heinz Hall.

Here is what we have so far.
