Once a year, Millvale throws a community bash that borough manager Virginia Pucci says draws about 10,000 people.
At this year's event, which starts next Thursday and runs through Sept. 18, participants can take a "train ride" on the borough's streets, watch a parade, ride carnival rides, listen to live bands, partake of the fare offered by numerous vendors, see a car cruise and attend wrestling matches. A 5K run to benefit the Millvale Library Project also will be held.
Festivities begin with an ecumenical church service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in First United Church of Christ, 425 North Ave.
The car cruise starts at 7 p.m. next Thursday, and the parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Rita's Italian Ice on Babcock Boulevard. It will travel along North Avenue to Grant Avenue. Wrestlers from Keystone State Wrestling Alliance will perform the evening of Sept. 17 and the afernoon of Sept. 18.
Ride tickets are on sale at the borough office, 501 Lincoln Ave. Advance sale price is 10 for $15; same day price is $2 per ticket.
