Duquesne fell to La Salle, 71-68, Saturday night, dropping its third game at home this season at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
La Salle (16-6, 5-2), now in a three-way tie for first place in the Atlantic 10, pulled ahead in the game's final six minutes.
Despite tying it at 66 with 1:17 to play on a put-back by Jerry Jones, the Dukes couldn't get a key stop and were forced to foul down the stretch.
Sam Mills scored on a layup under the hoop, drew a foul, then hit his free throw to take a 71-68 lead. Duquesne got a final chance with 6.2 seconds to play, but Jones' 3-pointer was blocked as time expired.
Duquesne got 19 points from T.J. McConnell, who went 8-for-11 from the floor, and 16 from Sean Johnson.
The Dukes (12-9, 3-4) trailed at 28-27 at the half but used an early second half run to take the lead.
